About The Shoulder - Men's Rehab Center

The Shoulder is a private, nonprofit, Christian drug and alcohol treatment center
that opened in April of 1988.

The Shoulder offers several residential and non-residential treatment programs for
adult men wishing to recover from their addiction to drugs and/or alcohol.

The Shoulder is certified by the Alabama Department of Mental Health. All of our
counselors are certified, and our standards are among the highest in the treatment
field.

The Shoulder screens prospective clients to determine whether an individual is
appropriate and eligible for treatment. The Shoulder is a strictly voluntary program. Many
individuals need treatment for their addiction, but The Shoulder is a place for individuals
who want treatment, as well as need it. Since we are a non-profit, there is a high demand
for our services. Only those men who meet our criteria and sincerely desire our
assistance will be considered for admission.

The Shoulder is not a medical facility, and cannot admit someone who needs medical
supervision during detoxification. A client is required to be detoxified from alcohol and
drugs PRIOR to admission.

Due to our limited size and the increasing demand of our services, The Shoulder often
has a waiting list for available slots. When this happens, an individual is placed on a
waiting list in the order in which he has applied and completed the initial screening
process.
