The program explores new behavioral changes and increases self awareness based on the identification of signs and symptoms of the illness, the degree of the problem, problematic behavioral patterns and alternatives. The program stresses how substances affect the family circle, how support groups make positive changes and the importance of complete abstinence and sobriety. Patients participate in the revision of a treatment plan once a month and treatment may consist of individual or group therapy. Duration of treatment is based on severity and progress of care.
