Outpatient Substance Abuse Counseling

Services: This program provides comprehensive alcohol/drug assessments; individual, group and family counseling on an outpatient basis to individuals and families impacted by drugs or alcohol; and written court evaluations.

The program offers a specialized group for adults suffering from co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders, along with traditional programming for outpatient substance abuse counseling and treatment in both a group or itndividual setting.

Also offered is STEP, a unique program designed to specifically meet the needs of young people ages 8-14 whose lives are affected by family members' addictions.  The STEP program employs age appropriate games, experiential activities, and art to assist in processing emotional turmoil and to provide them with healthy coping skills. The educational components teach communication skills that assist in developing self-esteem and teach young children about treatment and recovery.

Eligibility Criteria: Any client seeking substance abuse services and are free from acute medical and psychiatric symptomatology (DT's, acute detoxification symptoms, non-suicidal, non-homicidal, delusions or hallucinations), and are appropriate for outpatient substance abuse services as per ASAM criteria are eligible. Spanish-speaking counselor available. Must be a resident of Middlesex County or Franklin Township.

Wait List: Clients generally seen for intake within 2-3 weeks. Please call the Access Center at 1-800-655-9491 for a screening and intake appointment.
