The Haven is a substance abuse crisis residential (short term) treatment center located in Dothan, Alabama. The program can accommodate up to 26 male residents and up to 10 female residents. Services are provided by a Haven Director, Substance Abuse Counselors, Registered Nurse, Mental Health Technicians, Voluntary Pastorial Counselors, Cooks and support staff.  There is staff awake on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to provide supervision of the client's health and welfare. All staff are trained in First Aid, CPR, Crisis Intervention, and Program Policies and Procedures.

Treatment Routine

A minimum of 25 hours of treatment services per week is provided. Clients also participate in AA and NA meetings. An appropriate mix of treatment services, including therapy and didactic sessions, are offered. Family counseling and family education is provided.

Structure and discipline is maintained by enforcing a stringent set of rules and regulations designed to assist the client in learning how to restore manageability to his/her life. Clients are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and order of the facility, including their dormitories, living areas, and bunk areas.

The Haven serves adult substance abusers (19 years old and older) from Houston, Geneva, Barbour, Henry, and Dale counties, and from across the state. Occasionally a person who is 18 years of age may be admitted with proper documentation showing that they are living an adult lifestyle.
